‘Eugene Kinckle Jones, the first Executive Secretary of the National Urban League, was born in Richmond, VA, on this date July 30, 1885. He was one of the seven founders (commonly referred to as Jewels) of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity at Cornell University in 1906. Jones became Alpha chapter’s second President and co-authored the Fraternity name with Henry Callis.’
